SiteMinder, AsiaPay partner to boost digital payments in Asian hotels

Hotel customer acquisition platform SiteMinder has partnered with AsiaPay, a digital payment service provider, to simplify the online payment process for consumers booking hotel rooms in Asia.

Thanks to this partnership, which comes amid growing consumer demand for choice and contactless experiences, AsiaPay’s payment gateways – PayDollar, PesoPay and SiamPay – have been integrated into the online booking engine of SiteMinder to provide an automated and secure way for hotel guests to make an upfront payment when booking on their computer or mobile.

Starting this month, hotel users in 12 destinations can securely accept their guests’ digital payment methods to eliminate the need for expensive terminals and manual payment processing during guest check-in. Upfront payments will also reduce cancellations or no-shows for hotels in these 12 destinations namely China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Macau, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea , Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Joseph Chan, CEO of AsiaPay, said, “More Asian travelers make and pay for hotel reservations online, via desktop or mobile, than through any other channel. In order for hotels in the region to remain competitive, it is important that these millions of travelers find the online reservation and payment process simple and convenient.

SiteMinder’s partnership with AsiaPay comes at a critical time for hotel businesses in Asia, which are plagued by credit card denials, daily payment reconciliations and heightened data security standards. The partnership of the companies means that qualifying hotels can now reduce the time, costs and risks associated with manual payment processing, by giving their guests the ability to book in advance through a process that conforms to the latest standard of payment card industry data security.
