voco Melbourne Central Managing Director Erik Stuebe leads the team to launch voco’s first new property in Australia this Thursday 28th April 2022.
IHG Hotels and Resorts announced leadership appointments for the opening of its brand new Australasian property, Voco Melbourne Centralwith over 200 years of combined experience on the management team.
Managing Director of voco Melbourne Central, Erik Stübeleads the team responsible for launching the first new voco property in Australia this Thursday, April 28, 2022.
Beginning his career in Europe, Mr. Stuebe worked for several hotel groups around the world. He joined voco Melbourne Central in September 2021 after almost six years as Managing Director of InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto. Mr. Stuebe is also Area GM for Victoria and Tasmania.
“It is the coming together of a dream team with years of experience in all facets of hotel operations,” said Mr Stuebe.
“As the voco Melbourne Central finishes are nearing completion, we are immensely proud of this truly quirky hotel in the heart of Melbourne. Our staff will provide refreshing hospitality to all of our guests, and many of our team members have worked together in previous roles..”
The management team includes other award-winning InterContinental Melbourne The Rialto alumni: Christina Bridge, Celeste Clarke, Jackie Liu, Ian Lee and more recently, Front of House Manager Hobin Lee.
Christine Bridge is the Director of Sales and Marketing for voco Melbourne Central. His career spans various hotel groups internationally, notably in the UK and South Korea, in sales, events and marketing.
At the hotel’s restaurant, Blacksmith Brasserie, Ian Lee is the new executive chef at voco Melbourne Central. Originally from South Korea, Mr. Lee’s career spans nearly 30 years in luxury hotels around the world. Chef Lee has earned many prestigious accolades over the years, including winning the Global Culinary Competition, the Black Box Culinary Competition Gold Medal, and the Potential of People Award.
Mr Stuebe said that with more than 30 Voco locations around the world, including two in Australia, Melbourne was a natural choice for the group’s flagship property.
