The TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows that dozens of four and five-star hotel projects are lined up across the country, nearly a third of which are set aside in Manila.
In the coming years, the hotel supply in the Philippines is expected to grow by 61 projects with a total of 15,510 new rooms, report our researchers. We’re taking a closer look at these upcoming launches.
Hotel openings in the Philippines by year
Nine new properties with 2,250 keys are expected to be completed in the remaining months of 2021, while 2022 also promises to be a busy year, with 20 additional hotels and 5,557 rooms set to open. 12 more projects and 2,935 keys are in preparation for 2023, while 20 projects and 4,768 are expected to follow in 2024 and beyond.
Of these 61 new hotels, two-thirds (42) will be in the four-star category and the rest will target the five-star segment.
Main urban growth markets in the Philippines
The capital Manila is home to 19 new hotel projects – nearly a third of the total – which will increase the city’s guest room count by 4,784.
Meanwhile, Cebu City, another of the country’s main shopping centers, will see seven properties with 1,303 keys put into operation. And three projects with 699 rooms are underway in Malay.
International hotel brands grow in the Philippines
Citadines Apart’hotels is currently the fastest growing hotel brand in the Philippines, with nine projects underway that are expected to bring 1,824 rooms into service. This places it well ahead of Somerset Serviced Residences, which will add three properties with 601 keys to its local footprint.
The fact that two brands of apartment hotels top our ranking shows how the demand for this type of accommodation is booming across Southeast Asia.
Finally, Pullman Hotels & Resorts plans to open three establishments with a total of 600 rooms.
Upcoming remarkable hotel openings in the Philippines
Starting with the capital, The Westin Manila Sonata Place is expected to open on the main street of the Ortigas business district at the end of 2022. In addition to 300 luxurious rooms, the hotel will offer three dining venues, a gym, a spa and swimming pool. . In addition, it will offer many new options for event planners, with over 1,400 m² of reception space, including two ballrooms and six meeting rooms.
Pullman Manila at Primex Tower is another exciting launch slated to debut in late 2022. The 200-room hotel will feature two restaurants, a lobby lounge and a 50th-floor rooftop bar with spectacular views of the city skyline. You will also find a fitness center, swimming pool, ballroom, business center and several meeting rooms.
Elsewhere, Arca South, an integrated mixed-use development in the Metro Manila region, is expected to feature offices, homes, lifestyle centers, retail spaces, entertainment centers and dining destinations, as well as the Seda Arca South hotel, Taguig. Scheduled to open by mid-2022, the 265-key property will provide guests with convenient access to some of the Philippines’ best amenities.
