The royally endorsed initiative sees camellia seed oil used at 13 Centara properties across the Kingdom.
BANGKOK, THAILAND – Centara Hotels and ResortsThailand’s leading hotel operator, supports an initiative royally endorsed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Sirindhorn Chakri with the introduction of camellia seed oil, a healthy alternative to cooking oil also known as “tea seed oil”, in 13 hotels and resorts across Thailand.
Studies by the Chaipattana Foundation’s Tea, Oil and Vegetable Oil Research and Development Center have found that camellia seed oil, which has been well known in China for over 1,000 years, has many benefits, earning it the nickname “Olive Oil of the Eastern World”. .
Low in saturated fat and high in unsaturated fatty acids, camellia seed oil lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) while raising HDL (good cholesterol). High levels of HDL are known to remove other forms of cholesterol from the bloodstream and reduce the risk of heart disease. Camellia seed oil also contains a blend of important omega-3, omega-6, and omega-9 fatty acids, which help support the brain, heart, and skin, as well as other health functions.
The versatile oil is great for high heat cooking like frying, but can also add flavor to marinades and salads.
Camellia seed oil will be featured in special dishes created by the hotel’s chefs and placed in salad bars for guests to taste for themselves.
“We have seen an increased awareness of wellness and healthy living in the hospitality industry, and we are honored to support the royally endorsed initiative and introduce Camellia Seed Oil to our customers. We hope that by taking small steps like this, we can fight for a healthier future.,” mentioned Supatra ChirathivatSenior Vice President – Corporate Affairs & Social Responsibilities of Centara Hotels & Resorts.
